Vegoritis Lake

Fani's photos

Two years before we could drove till the 'island' ..There was a road crossing meadows and.reedbeds ...A wonderful place to see birds during migration ...Last year the island almost became an island again ..the road was disappeared but you could reach it on foot ...This year the island is ...island ...no road at all ..It was  all under the water during  the winter and now in a rainy spring the surface of water can only rise  ...I have never seen the lake so 'full' ...Some trees planted almost ten years before are now into the water ...It is really wonderfull to see that  Vegoritis Lake gains water again ...year after year ...but I will miss the reedbeds and the great meadows habitat that had been created becouse of the loss of water the previous years...

Poplar trees at the edge of the water

The water reached the peach trees ...some of them planted more than ten years before at the dry land after the surface of the lake got lower

Big tree ...with a nest ...

The reedbed is now too away ...
