I've been watching this stork nest since end of March/early April on my cell phone with an application called nest cam. I realize that no new picts have been posted in the past few days from your blog site. The nest looks grey and I've seen no movement of the chicks. I was checking to see what happend? And if the babies have died, what could have caused it? Its crazy that I feel so invested in these birds, but like I said, this has been my phones screen saver since march and id hate an unhappy ending. Thank you
Hello Amanda ...unfortunatelly I couldn't find any news at Martin's blog so I can't tell what exactly happened ...It looks like all chicks have died but I don't know what is the reason...Maybe a mold (?) as it happened some years before in another stork nest I watched some years before from Germany too..I suspect they need some time to find out what was the reason of their death ..
It is very sad we missed the chicks ..It is the second year this nest failed to raise young birds ..At the previous year the eggs failed to hatch and now all the chiks died ..
This is the nature ...you never know what will happen at last ...Happy stories and sad stories. We must be just observers ..and not be so much emotional attached with what we watch ..but I know it is difficult ..
I watch cams many many years and I saw it happens many times before ...but although it is sad next year you can see a new start ..and this is the most beautiful thing in nature ..Just a cycle that never ends ..:)
Fani, Thank you so much for your quick response. I understand that these things happen. Now, that I know about these storks, I will be watching them and can't wait untill next year :) the other nest has flourished! It looks incredible with those fat healthy chicks!! Thank you, again!
